If the emergency lights a vehicle displays accomplishes its purpose it is of little importance which lights the vehicle displays. While most companies and police departments today choose to display the LED bar lights there are no regulations that require this type of lights at the present time.
How much emphasis should someone place on the style of vehicle lights? As long as they meet any regulations your state or the federal government may have in effect at the time there is no need to become overly concerned. The key issue is having emergency lights that are highly visible so that there is no possibility of creating a hazard for motorists in the area of the emergency. That means assuring that each vehicle has lights prominently displayed and operational at any time the vehicle is responding to an emergency.
