Do You Want Free Electricity At Home? How To Make Your Solar Power Generator By Yourself Now

The lure of free electricity is so tempting that any legitimate way to achieve it should come as a shot in the arm for anyone looking for it. With the advent of Science and Technology and ever increasing demand for producing green energy, the focus nowadays is on alternative energy sources such as Solar or Wind Power.  And the good news is, harnessing this energy is not as difficult as it once used to be, thanks to the advent of internet and the vast amount of information available out there.  I am now going to share with you quickly what it takes to get up and running with building a Solar Power Generator on your own.

Let me list you down the components of a Solar Power Generator:

1. Solar Panel
2. Grid Tie Inverter
3. Mounting
4. Wiring

As simple as it may sound, the trick is to get the components quickly and cheaply and assemble them together to get out electricity.  As you see, technically its not free electricity, as you've got to purchase these equipments and put in some effort to get the system up and running.  But once that is done, it only bottoms down to periodic maintenance and happy savings.  Ok, Now lets get into some details:

Solar Panel

The PV module is the most time consuming process among the steps that I have mentioned, mainly because of the assembling of the Solar Cells.  The cells need to be arranged inside a panel framework, which one can do himself, or get a carpenter's help.  This framework needs to be made of Acrylic fibre and the size will depend on the number of cells that you want to assemble, which will inturn determine the amount of power you would generate out of the system.  The Solar cells need to be connected serially using a copper wire that is soldered to its back.  This set of cells, that are connected together by the copper wiring, are then placed inside the Acrylic panel framework and glued using silicone. Then, a protective boundary can be put up around this framework using wood or Acrylic.  Obviously, this entire process is a lot of work and there are so many finer details that one needs to attend to.  My intent here is to outline you what is involved in building one, as explaining it in detail would require more than an article.

Grid Tie Inverter

The Solar Panel module will produce DC output once its exposed to sunlight.  The copper wiring that runs through the panel now needs to be connected to an Inverter, that converts the DC to AC.  This is required because our household appliances run in AC.  Once the DC is converted into AC, this power can then be passed on to the Grid and this can contribute in addition to the regular power supply.  Please note that you need to get an electrician's help here as doing this by yourself can be risky and could also be illegal, depending upon which state you reside in.  It helps to check your local laws.  Alternately, you can use the AC power to directly power your home appliances, in which case, no legal clearances are required.  You just to have to ensure that the power you generate is right for the appliance you want to power.

Mounting

Before mounting on the roofs of your homes, you need to check the weight that your roof can handle.  An array of Solar Panels can be of considerable weight, and you need to ensure your roof is strong enough to hold the panels in place.  Then, you can attach the mounts on the roofs that would hold the panels in place.  Please make arrangements for vertical support as well, as the panels would be placed in an angle to face the sun.  Care should also be taken so that the shadow of one panel doesnt fall on other.  Alternately, hire a carpenter and give directions so that you can concentrate on the output than the procedure.

Wiring

Once the Array of Solar Panels are mounted, all it takes to get operational is to connect the output of each of these panels serially and give that output to the inverter. Alternately, this can be given to a DC battery that can store the power and when required, can be passed to the inverter.  This inverter, in turn gets connected to the Grid or appliances directly. Again, an electrician's help can come in handy as doing these things by ourselves can get messy and worst of all, might cause short circuits that can blow off a circuit or two
