Many individuals, businesses, and organizations are now using alternate forms of energy to help protect the environment and reduce energy consumption costs. Wind, solar and magnetically generated power were expensive alternatives that are now more affordable, as the technology of developing the equipment has improved and become more reliable. Just as scientists, researchers and industries are pursuing better ways to produce energy; individuals and businesses are also coming up with new ideas and implementing better ways to satisfy their individual energy needs.
The Earth has experienced many manmade environmental disasters in recent history. The recent British Petroleum (BP) oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has many individuals concerned about the devastating effects the oil is having on the environment. The damage this disaster has caused is already affecting the wildlife in the area, migratory animals that visit the affected areas, and the economy and health of those who live and work in the Gulf coast region. Researchers, scientists, and other experts are still determining the short and long-term effects of the damage. Some say discovering the total extent of the damage will continue for years, possibly decades.
Reports indicate that oil and gas consumption is increasing at alarming rates. Underdeveloped countries are only beginning to benefit from oil and gas products, continuing to increase demand for energy as these natural, nonrenewable resources are diminishing. Although the Earth is constantly forming these resources, fossil fuels such as oil and gas require millions of years to form. Nonrenewable resources are those resources that take longer than an average human lifespan to create or form.
Discovery of gas and oil, and the potential benefits for creating energy in 1859, has made these two resources the most sought after forms of energy to satisfy an increasing demand. Oil and gas reserves are limited, and exhausting the supply will cause unknown damage to the ecosystem of the Earth. Experts believe that we are consuming these fossil fuels faster than the Earth is replenishing them. The experts can only estimate what damages are currently occurring as we continue to harvest the oil and gas reserves that are being taken or what problems will be present if the supply is exhausted.
Many scientists and experts believe that the harvesting and burning of these fossil fuels is diminishing the ozone layer of the Earths atmosphere. The ozone and atmosphere helps to protect the Earths surface from meteors and other space debris, and keeps the oxygen and water from escaping. This creates a closed system environment. Although nothing in nature is capable of keeping all outside influences from the Earths surface or letting any inside resources out, the atmosphere is as close to a closed system environment as is naturally possible. As the ozone layer of the atmosphere diminishes, reducing the Earths natural defense against meteors, the oxygen and water from the Earths surface is escaping into space.
As scientists and experts have become aware of the damage and possible dangers to the Earths environment, research began exploring alternate ways of producing energy that are as effective, and safer for the environment. The development of electrical power is one of the greatest advances in producing energy since the discovery of gas and oil. The discovery of producing electricity with running water has become the most common and reliable source to produce electricity, which provides and satisfies the need for energy.
Dams built on waterways across the United States provide energy to areas and regions that did not have easy access to gas and oil fuels for use as energy. These Dams have caused other environmental issues through changing the natural flow of waterways. The changes to the natural flow of waterways, leaves areas below the Dam susceptible to drought in dryer times and flood prone in rainy times.
As scientists, researchers, and other experts discover the negative environmental impacts of the resources of producing and consuming energy, the research and investigation of better and safer, alternatives continues. Solar, wind, and magnetically generated power are newer ways of producing electrical energy, reducing the demand for fossil fuel generated energy, which have less of a negative environmental impact than the creation and maintenance of Dams.
More information is available about a new energy producing resource that is inexpensive and provides free energy. This resource can eliminate the amount of power the electrical company now provides, to satisfy individual energy needs. Find more information at: http://earthissues.info
