Fossil fuels and nuclear power are the most widespread energy sources humankind has ever used, although they are responsible for themost important environment problems, such as Global Warming and other Climate changes. That is why human'sinterest turned into ecological alternative energy sources.In the past, the sunlight, the wind,and the water concerned the scientific cycle.Nowadays, Renewable energy known also as Green energy or Cleanenergy is increasingly growing. Some of the new renewables are small hydropower, wind power, biofuel, geothermal energy, and solar energy which willbe presented below.What is solar energy and why is it so important?

The sun is the biggest source of life on earth. Since ancient times human race tried to take advantage of the energy that is provided by the sun.  They used different ways to capture the suns heat and light converting it and distributing it so as to benefit from it.  The first attempt was at the 7th century BC when they used a glass to collect the sunlight and set fire. Then, follows the burning mirrors in order to light torches and the exploitationof the reflective properties of bronze shields to focus sunlight and set fire to wooden ships(212 BC Syracuse)[i]. Today, the largest solar power facility is in the Mojave Desert, known as Solar Energy Generating Systems (SEGS) its capacity is of 354 megawatts (MW).

The solar energy operation modes are separated in passive solar and active solar according to the collecting way and use of thesun rays. Architecture and agriculture are only some fields that solar energy thrives. Also, we have the solar lighting, the solar thermal and the water heating. Water treatment is responsible for making the water potable and solar chemical uses solar power for chemical reactions. Furthermore, other bright sections that solar energy prospers are Cooking and solar vehicles.Yet, above all, the Electrical Generation is the most popular.

As far as it concerns the Electrical Generation, solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaics (PV), or indirectly using concentrated solar power (CSP). CSP systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam. PV converts light into electric current using the photoelectric effect[ii]. Of course, the cost of solar PV installations is quite high. According to the Department of Energy's Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory this is due to marketing, inverters, labors, and non functional causes. Various attempts have been made so as to reduce the cost and the time when human will install PV himself in a much lower price is reality.
