From time to time we can see that home energy consumption and prices are increasing significantly. Most likely, the energy price will be rising continuously. People are searching for suitable solution to cut their utility bills. One of the most effective solutions is solar power technology. The main problem is that the initial investment for home solar power system is high ($3000 and above). If you have contacted your local suppliers and asked for package with complete installation, you would have found that it is expensive.

Actually it is possible to cut down your initial investment cost only several hundreds dollars (about $200, depend on specification) and surprisingly, it is quite easy to do. We need to purchase all components individually and assemble them ourselves.

The principle is simple. The basic component of solar PV (Photo Voltaic) system are:

1. The PV Panels

2. Batteries

3. Charger Controller

4. Inverter

5. Electrical Loads (AC and DC)

Lets discuss further on 5 items above:

1. The PV panels.

This Panels receive energy from sunlight and convert it to electrical energy (Direct Current). The connections of the PV panels can be serial or parallel or combination of both, the output is for home electrical need and also directed to the charger controller equipment, to charge and maintain the batteries.

2. Battery

We use battery to store electrical energy from the PV panels via the charger controller. These batteries are connected in serial/parallel combination to get proper voltage and power.

3. Charger Controller

This equipment is responsible for charging and maintaining the batteries, therefore it will be in perfect condition.

4. Inverter

Inverter is the equipment to convert electrical current from direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC).

5. Electrical loads

All of our home equipments and appliances (Lighting, Air Conditioners, Heaters etc.)
