Where are 5 star Solar Products?

I support renewable energy, so I looked long and hard at all the solar gadgets here on Amazon, my goal was to charge my cell phone or at least not drain my car battery in doing so. This product is durable, as it’s slid off my dashboard several times without breaking. But I have no idea if it works to charge my battery. In fact, it may be draining my battery! When I plug it into my Nissan Quest it activates the Satellite, GPS & DVD players with or without sunshine. No sun makes me think they are running off and draining the car battery. I plan to keep the panel in the car for now, but it’s already annoyed my husband. Might be nice if a car had something like this built in to keep a battery charged.
Not sure the product designed for vehicle battery

I made few measurements of voltage on vehicle battery contacts – with and without solar panel, with and without working engine, during engine start also (that is most critical). And the result is simple – there is no difference with or without the solar panel.
In addition I made measurements on panel contacts when there is no DIRECT sun light – very low energy supported, most of cases near to zero. And I’m leaving in very sunny place.
This panel probably can be used as power supply over little lamp or radio or something else like diode lights, but not for vehicle battery. And this is exactly why I bought it. So for me it was pure waist of money.
Good stuff

Works like a charm. My car doesn’t do that weird throbbing sound whenever I start it up, as the battery is fully charged and doesn’t struggle when my car starts. Especially awesome for the winter months when batteries don’t perform well to begin with
the best

works as advertised, keeps a charged battery full up, does not charge a dead battery, but the instructions state that, and no 1.5watt trickle charger will either, charges battery with indoor garage lighting, if this does not work for you its because you cannot read the instructions,
failure

Doesn’t work at all. I’ve tried in repeatedly on my fully RV charged battery, and it doesn’t keep it from running down at all. If I still had the packaging I would surely return it for a refund. I hope my experience isn’t typical, but it’s all that really matters when I’ve paid for something that’s such a complete and total failure!
Read up on solar before the purchase

I bought this as a trickle charger for my motorcycle, and other than not being waterproof, it fits the bill perfectly. My original plan was to mount it to the handle bars, but now i keep it in saddle bag and plug it in when i get to work if needed. Good quality and accessories, just do not expect this to bring a dead battery back from the dead. May work for hyper-milers in sunny locations who remove the alternator belt.
Never Worked

I read the product description for the solar battery charger and “boat batteries” were listed. I assumed that since they listed boats that the product was waterproof… Oops on me. The product is not water proof! Well, for twenty bucks, what do you want… I was able to rig a waterproof cover for it out of an old, clear camelback hydration bladder. With that in hand, I went out assuming that it would work… Oops on me again. The led that is supposed to light to tell you that it’s charging never lit up. I thought that maybe the clear pack was somehow interfering with it. So, I took it out and no go…
THE PRODUCT DOES NOT WORK! If you need energy, just light a $20 bill. It’s about the same cost and you’ll get more energy from the fire than from this unit!!!
Unfortunately, I threw away the packaging, so I couldn’t return it.
So far So good

It does what it says and seems to work well, I will need more time with it to see if it really keeps the car’s battery charged.
It works but lower your expectations
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
It works, just remember to lower or expectations (true for most any solar panel actually). Today, on a window sill, I am getting 2/10ths of a watt out of this solar panel into a “Bright Bar” LED trouble light which, incredibly, it will plug directly into without adapters — see this: Vector Bright Bar 26 LED Rechargeable Worklight — beware that the photo of the Bright Bar shows a different charge plug than came with mine so I cannot promise for you the same convenience that I have with mine. With a better position on the sun I should be able to double it to 4/10ths of a watt at which time it would fully charge the Bright Bar in 20 hours. Behind clear glass it can deliver 70 milliamps (0.07 amps) which isn’t very much. Warning: Your mileage may vary.
