Solar Lighting is Cheap and Effective

Solar lighting is, as its name suggests, lighting power provided by the sun. The lights are often exterior lights or garden lights, shed lights and garage lights. They can replace mains powered lights. As there is no need for wires, they can be installed almost anywhere.

Solar powered lights charge throughout the day from the sun, but even on overcast days, they can still charge up. After charging during the day, they switch on automatically at dusk although some can be overridden manually.

Some solar lights are very decorative and will enhance the garden. There is also solar lighting that can be used for special occasions, like solar string lights for barbecues and garden parties. Star lights, that change colours are also highly decorative, changing from orange to blue, or from pink to green, in the summer nights.

Solar lights are very easy to install, which is an added bonus when you are busy with organising a party and with no need for electric wires, there is no problem regarding safety in a garden with water features. There even are solar floating lights that can float on your pond that which switch on at dusk.

Some solar powered lights have the added advantage of offering security. This is the case for solar powered lamps in a Victorian style, which light up when they sense movement. A great way to surprise intruders.

There are solar lights for sheds or garages. It is sometimes difficult to put electricity in a shed that is some distance from the house. In this case solar lighting can be a solution.  They are very easy to install, no need to ask an electrician to install wires from the mains, you simply put the small solar panel on top of the shed or garage.

The solar panel will charge during the day, costing nothing. You fix the light inside the shed or garage. When you need to go out after dark you just switch it on with a remote control even before going out. These types of solar lights can also be used in greenhouses or barns.

The best part of solar lights is that they are not expensive - starting at around $15, so really there is no reason not to grab yourself a few.
