Clean Drinking Water From The Air

Atmospheric water generators , popular search terms include (water from air) (drinking water condensing unit) various different phrases however the machines preform essentially the same function . They take moisture from the air, condense and collect that water filter and sanitize it sufficient enough for drinking and you get cleaner, purer water that is better for you.

To help get a clear picture of how the water is produced picture a glass with ice in it, a glass of tea or your favorite drink icy cold on a warm day. Tiny water particles invisible to the eye collect and condense on the outside of the glass. When enough of these tiny drops collect they form larger droplets and run down the glass to the bottom where they collect in a pool around the bottom of the glass.

This is similar to how the machines work, the glass however is replaced with coils that are chilled , a fan pulls air across the coils causing the tiny water particles to collect faster on the coils . The droplets form on the coils and drain into a collection tank , as the tank fills the water is passed through multiple filters and eventually treated with UV light to kill bacteria before it is dispensed for drinking.

Some of these products can be used as a filter system by attaching a water line to them , be informed as these products are expensive they do require periodic maintenance in changing filters and UV lights. These products are new an have promise we as consumers can help the manufacturers of these products to develop user friendly machinery but only through feedback and recommendations.

There are some added benefits to buying one of these products besides the obvious cleaner drinking water at a cheaper cost ,while decreasing the number of plastic bottles floating in our rivers and streams that take hundreds of years to deteriorate. One is they decrease the humidity in the home and they filter the air both of which are secondary functions and will help improve air quality in the home. I think in the future you may see designs which view these points as significant and will use possibly electrostatic air filtration or some others means of filtering the air to a high level of purity.

Eventually I would like to see a unit that expelled the heat outside and cooled the home so we have a combination of a water purifying, air filtering, home cooling solar powered unit . A natural result of air cooling in a normal air conditioning system is water condensation. My grandmother used to collect this condensation in a large empty trash can placed below her A/C window unit (this was in the late 70s) she used a dipping pot and from this she watered all her plants . She swore by it as the best source for water when watering her plants and if anyone knows it would be Grandma right ?
