Conserve Energy With LED Bulbs

An LED lamp is a lamp which utilizes LED as its light source. LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. The light produced by a single diode is extremely small. Hence a collection of diodes are used with each other to get the sufficient light. The wavelength of the light emitted by LEDs is small. Therefore the light emitted from the LEDs is strongly colored. The lighting for normal purposes requires white light. To convert the colored light that is emitted in to white light, the light from red, green and blue bulbs are combined.

The other technique is to use a phosphor to convert the light in to some other colors. LEDs are used for both ordinary lighting in which white light is employed and for particular lighting in which colored light is utilized. If colored light is needed then an LED is used with out any filters. When white light is needed some of the colours are eliminated. Therefore colored bulbs are far more energy efficient since they do not Waste energy by filtering out the unwanted contents.

It is claimed that they are better than ordinary fluorescent bulbs. LEDs include no mercury, unlike a CFL or Compact Fluorescent Lamp. LEDs can be turned on very quickly. Even if they are repeatedly turned on and off repeatedly the life time of an LED stays unaffected.

LEDs are also far more durable and are less likely to break. White light LEDs have a long life time and consume only very less power. These bulbs are also very small in size. The small size gives a lot of flexibility when LEDs are employed in lighting systems. The distribution of the light can be controlled effectively to fit various purposes. LED lamps incorporate no glass tubes and therefore have much less possibilities of breakage. The same reason makes these bulbs much more tough also.

LEDs are also utilised in flash, bicycle lights and in certain types of solar powered lights. LED lamps also find applications in gardening and in agriculture. LED lamps were employed by NASA to develop plants in space. Ever since that LEDs have grow to be extremely popular in indoor horticulture and gardening. In the LED lamps used for this function the wavelength of the light emitted facilitates chlorophyll absorption in plants. This promotes plant growth and reduces wastage of energy. Energy is conserved as LED lamps do not emit the light of those wave lengths which the plants do not demand.
