One of the most difficult groups of people to shop eco friendly for is men. While buying a gift for boyfriend, husband, brother or dad can be difficult at the best of times, green gifts don't seem to appeal to them too much either. But there are some great gift ideas, suitable for birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries and Father's and many eco-friendly alternatives to the traditional present too.

Here are five eco friendly gifts for men that should be suitable for even the hardest to buy for bloke:

Bamboo Socks

Perhaps the most common and obvious present for a man but if you are going to buy them you really should consider a pair of bamboo socks.

Bamboo is ideal for making socks because it aerates allowing the feet to breathe. It is also anti bacterial which can prevent foot odour and some common skin ailments. They are also just as warm as cotton socks but as they are breathable they are ideal for sports too.

Dynamo Shaver

Another obvious present but this one is really useful. The main problem with electric shavers in the past has that there have been only two options – those that require a mains plug, which is hit and miss when you are travelling; or ones that use batteries, which will eventually go flat and need replacing, often at the worst of times.

A dynamo shaver just requires a wind up so they can be used anywhere at anytime. This is a great gift for the man who travels.

We all know men love hogging the remote control but all that channel flicking means having to replace the batteries – not any more, a solar powered TV remote that can even use the light bulb to get enough power for infinite channel hopping.

Solar Charger

We all love gadgets and most men will have a phone, MP3 player, laptop and probably a whole load of other electrical gizmos. Having to carry around a lot of chargers is not only impractical but all that energy isn't very eco friendly. Some solar powered chargers can recharge almost any device, from a laptop to a mobile -­ for free. Solar chargers can also be used on the move making them ideal for any traveller.

Another really useful solar device. Some solar torches either allow you to charge other gadgets such a mobile phones – another ideal gift for the travelling man.
