The New Moon & Solar Eclipse Dominate the January Astrology

Yes it is that time of the year again...another year rushed by. The old year comes to a closing if we are ready for the new year to enter our lives or not. We might have done what we set out to do this last year or not. We might feel a sense of accomplishment and contentment with what is. We might have had bigger plans for our lives then what has happened and feel vaguely disappointed or even angry.

The end of the year with the high strung emotions of the holidays, the inner high tides of memories connected with our family history all these create a highly charged time and you might be glad it is over now.

I always have this particular feeling the last week of the year. It almost feels as if life is holding its breath for a moment before it releases the old stagnant energy and takes in a new deeply promising breath. I feel this moment of stillness and mystery deeply. I want to slow down and not do. I want to take the time to look inward and access my own inner unknown dimensions and secrets. I feel on the brink of something new and exciting and there is only this stillness in the womb of creation, the seed of the new ready to be seeded, to be able to sprout into something beautiful and new.

About Setting Your Intentions

Around New Year we could feel encouraged to take a fresh view and perspective onto our lives, courageously confront our short comings and dissatisfaction with an eye towards our deep inner visions and dreams. It seems like the specific quality between the years is inviting us to take heart and step into another round of growing into our best, the highest potential available to express. There is a price we pay if we don't have a vision or a goal to pursuit- we find ourselves wandering aimlessly through life.

Of course, if you set your intentions and become clear of where you want to go you have a much better chance to reach that destination. But not only that! You will have a better time journeying the path of your choice because passion and determination is fueling you, gifting you with the excitement of creation. If you have lost your dreams you will feel empty, depressed, listless and drifting rudderless in choppy waters.

The Moon Is Your Soul

Where can we reconnect with our dreams and find that what is meaningful and nourishing to our soul? Astrologically the Moon represents your heart and your soul. You need to be true to your soul to feel fully happy. I suggest you have a look at your chart and see in which sign and house your Moon is and how it is aspected. That will give you a starting point if you have lost your way and don't know what it is you really deeply want in your life. The Moon represents what is truly nourishing for you and how you can express that quality into the world, how you can be useful and make a difference for others.

I always liked Tony Robbins and especially his work with the 6 human needs he considers at the base of all our striving. The sixth need he describes as the need to contribute and "add our own distinctive flavor to the soup of existence" (my words) . I believe we are a particular part of the whole and we are here for a reason. People who have found their reason and a way to share themselves and add value to the life of others seem to be the most fulfilled and happy people I know. Finding that deep inner meaning of your individual life in the context of your karma and your soul's evolution can help you move forward into the right direction.

A Solar Eclipse as well as the New Moon is always the chance for a New Beginning. Light disappears for a moment and we have to keep faith while in the darkness and wait for the light to return. The light of the Sun is equated with consciousness and life. Sun has the biggest gravitational force in our universe and runs the show. Whenever there is a Solar Eclipse there is a strong gravitational pull to get our lives in order and just right. The invitation here is to align your consciousness (Sun) with your soul (Moon) to do the right things guided by the inner wisdom of your eternal nature.

Saturn, Capricorn's ruling planet squares this Sun Moon conjunction and challenges us to find a new perspective, use untapped resources and revel in a sense of purpose. Saturn work is never easily done. It takes determination, self discipline to do the "great work" to achieve something meaningful.

Pluto, still in the beginning of the home of Saturn, the sign of Capricorn sets out to change the way we do business, deal with each other on a personal level as well as in society at large, our governments, the corporate world and institutions.

This year it seems to be more important then ever to take some time for yourself and do some thinking about where you are and where you want to go, actually need to go to feel happy and deeply content.
