5 Important Tips to Remember When Looking For a Solar Panel Installer

It is that time, you have decided you are going to go energy smart and have solar panels installed on your house or business. But where do you start? What questions should you be asking potential installers? Whatever your reasons for installing solar panels keep these 5 tips in mind when hiring an installer.

1. Location, Location, Location – This might sound a little too simple but it is the most important, select an installer in your geographical area. If you have any problems with your new solar panels you want the company nearby so they can come right out and fix the problem without hiring a subcontractor. "TheGreen11.com" has a large selection of installers for you to pick from.

2. Certification – As the solar panel industry is becoming more popular, more fly by night companies are popping up stating they are solar panel experts. You want to make sure that the installer is NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) certified. When you are checking the solar installer's certification make sure they have a licence master electrician. You want to know that the guy connecting you into the electrical grid knows what he is doing.

3. Experience – How long has this installer been in business? Ask your potential installer to see other projects they have worked on. Installers keep a portfolio of instillations they have done. Ask them about the installs, ask to see the solar panel instillations. Don't be afraid to contact the customer and ask them how they like their system and how was the relationship with the installer. You always ask people about a car you are going to buy, why not solar panels?

4. Subcontracting – this is a potential no. You want to check with your solar panel installer that they have their own staff and does not use subcontractors or at least does not contract out the whole job. This will help elevate warranty issues and will assure you that the installer knows what they are doing. On that note, it may be hard to find a company that does not use subcontractors, so just do your research make sure you know who yourr installer is subcontracting and who will be supervising their work.

5. Price and payment – Solar panels and solar panel instillation can be very expensive. Just because the installer offered you a cheap price don't jump on it. Remember the saying "you get what you pay for". Do your research, make sure you get a price break down up front. This does not mean you have to go with the most expensive company, just make sure you cover your bases so that you the consumer is protected.

Having solar panels installed onto your home or company has many great benefits on your pocket book and the environment. Follow these 5 simple tips and your journey into the renewable energy world will be a much smoother ride.
