The materials needed include Plexiglas, solder, plywood sheeting, tin wire, silicon caulk, and solar cells.

When you want to build a solar panel for your home, it is also important to remember that you will need 80 cells to generate 100 watts of electricity. Therefore, if you need at 1 kilowatt or 1,000 watts, you will have to purchase 800 solar cells. You will also have to check the voltage output of each of those solar cells. However, before you could do the computations for the number of solar cells needed, you will first have to compute the total power that you desire for the solar cells to produce.

After figuring out the number of solar cells that you will need to build a solar panel, calculate the total area of the solar cells and then cut the plywood to provide an area that would be sufficient for all of the solar cells. Then, you will need to coat the plywood with varnish that has the capability to protect the wood from ultraviolet rays. The solar cells will then be attached to the plywood using silicon caulk and the solar cells will have to be covered with Plexiglas. The assemblage will then have to be protected from moisture and this can be done by applying silicon caulk.
