This article offers a simplified outline of the characteristics of each of the seven charkas.

Chakras are centers of energy that correspond to each of our body's systems and organs. We each hold emotions in the seven chakras, which are areas of consciousness. The word Chakra comes from a Sanskrit word meaning "wheel". When your charkas are in perfect alignment they resemble "wheels of spinning light".

Each wheel of energy corresponds to a color in the rainbow, and the seven vibrations of notes, better known as octaves.

There are quartz crystals that are associated with each Chakra and in turn are used to facilitate healing.

The bottom three charkas are more in tune with our Yang energy (masculine), and the top three charkas with our Ying energy (feminine).

The heart charka balances the Ying and Yang energies. It's known as the androgynous charka.

By meditating on the seven charkas you can achieve internal and external alignment of your spiritual, mental and physical selves. In this state great things are possible.

If you desire stability and harmony, you should consider this a priority. This is the kind of balance sought after by those of us who feel out of synch.

Seventh Chakra: Crown of the Head

Color: Bright Violet or a Combination of all the Colors.

When we carry a lot of stale emotional energy inside, we congest the charkas which are essential for marinating health and well-being. If we continue to remain unaware or frightened of our true feeling, the energy which is blocked in the chakras, won't be able to shift and spin. Giving ourselves permission to feel what is going on within us creates the possibility of shifting our energy centers and allowing new, vital energy to change our lives. Feeling our emotions frees us to be ourselves, which is essential to our well-being.
