It is generally identified that solar and wind energy is quickly becoming the most popular methods to produce without expenses, renewable energy at home and it is easy to understand why. To free yourself from the electric companies with their over increased energy prices is only one reason and to have more cash is a different one. Solar energy is one of the most common source of alternative energy but a different natural source is wind although harder to control.

Initially it is much less expensive to get connected to the grid of the local electric company than it is to install and hook on home solar power and wind turbines, but on the long term one saves money by using the sun and the wind for energy needs and becomes also more independent. Not getting an electric bill while enjoying the advantages of the modern electrically-driven life style is a marvellous feeling.

The electric and fuel bills go up regularly - but the cost of home solar power systems and wind turbine power is zero, and the cost of installation and to connect a turbine and panels go down regularly while the request goes up and a more commercial success is carried out by various companies producing solar panels and wind turbines and seeking technologies to make them increasingly more effective. Moreover, people move away from the traditional electric grids and the fossil fuels for personal reasons including the desire for greatest independence, the desire of living remote or rural without having to "go primitive", political concern such as fears of the strikes of terrorist on oil reservoirs or power grids, or concerns relating to the environment. Additionally, there are 35 states at the time of this writing where these householders are permitted to trade their surplus of energy back to the power company under what are called "net metering laws". A few federal lawmakers are promoting to get the federal government to authorize these tax breaks and other wind and solar power bonuses in all 50 states. Japan and Germany already have national incentive programs in action. Nevertheless, "a lot of this is managed regionally by state law. There would not really be a role for the federal government," the Energy Department's Craig Stevens says. And as could be guessed, there are electric companies who feel that it's unjust that they should have to pay retail rates to individuals. "We should pay you the wholesale rate for... your electricity," according to Bruce Bowen, Pacific Gas & Electric's director of regulatory policy. However, the companies appear to be more worried about losing short-run incomes than about the benefits, particularly in the long run, of the increased usage of solar panels, wind turbines or wind farms. Head of the Center for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Technologies of California V. John White points out, "It's quality power that strengthens the grid."
