Power generation is to change completely the types of energy sources, which are not similar to transform it to electricity. There are many methods of power generation already that have been imposed to forge an effortless way of living among the people. These methods have been implemented perhaps on the creation of electricity. The following are some of the different methods that are imposed up to this day.

The first one is the solar power. Solar power uses the sun's energy which is extremely great. This energy can be interchanged to another kind of energy which is commonly known as electricity. The great thing about solar energy is that it helps the environment by abating pollution and it is also replaceable. The second method of power generation is wind power. To produce electricity, wind turbines are created in areas where the wind is a bit powerful. Just like solar power, wind power is also environment friendly and replaceable. The downside, it is only applicable to areas where there is enough wind.

Geothermal power is another method of generation of power. It takes advantage of the steam found underground that comes from volcanoes' vents. Plants dedicated to geothermal power are built to generate electricity. This method is best used in locations where there are a lot of springs or volcanoes.

The fourth is hydro power which is the biggest source of energy in the world. To generate the needed energy, about 70% of the world makes use of hydro power. As we can see, there are many dams built to generate electricity that can be dispersed among households. However, the ecosystem of the surrounding places of hydropower plants is disturbed such as areas being dried up due to the need of the dam to have enough water.

The fifth method is fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas and oil. Fossil fuels are commonly used in Middle East countries. The great thing about fossil fuel is that it can generate a huge amount of energy which is utilized in cars or machineries power plants. However, fossil fuels have a disadvantage where it is the leading generator of waste gases that annihilates the environment. It is irreplaceable thus, it has started to diminish.

Aside from the given five there are other power generation methods like tidal energy, biomass, and nuclear energy. They also have their own advantages in generating electricity as well as disadvantages. Tidal energy uses a strong tide from the sea to generate power and this method is quite expensive. Biomass is undergoing some developments to utilize its full advantage and known to be the solution to resources which are irreplaceable. Nuclear energy has been one of the talks of the town. However, it can cause not only health hazards to the environment. Methods of power generation are great aids to converting energy to electricity thus, making our lives convenient.
