A well-lit house only depicts a responsible owner. In as much as we place lights outside the front door, we should also do the same with the pathway and nearby outdoor premise.

The main purpose of placing outdoor walkway illumination is mainly to guide foot traffic. These lights whether they are small sequenced lights or brighter floodlights are actually very effective in guiding our way through the walkway. These fixtures keep them safe by leading the way or signaling the presence of blockage or perhaps potted plants or curved road.

The reason why other people find walkway lights impractical to install is because they were probably referring to the very common type of walkway light which is recessed light. These lights give out only a soft glow of light and are not really intended for extensive illumination. However, the practical purpose they serve is mainly as pavement markings as they are usually installed along the side of the walkway. It will be enough to guide the way towards the front of the house and ultimately towards the front door.

There are fixtures that are appropriate to be placed in the pathway which can give out a brighter light. There are even pathway lights that do not really have to be installed on the ground as with recessed lights. Your pathway can be installed with ground stake lights so it would not only light the pathway but may even light a side walk by your pathway. These are also very useful lights and will not be too glaring to one's eyesight as well.

The advantage of having recessed walkway lighting is the fact that it doesn't consume much power because it operates under low voltage. You would not have problems with electric bill using these fixtures. Also, recessed fixtures are not glaring especially for a person's eye sight.
