SCSA is the acronym of Sun certified system administration. This certification validates the skills and knowledge that are required for performing the procedures of system administration in Solaris OS (Solaris operating system) as well as technical application support responsible for network server administration in the Solaris OS. This certification shall be obtained by attending two exam credentials which is tested to the candidates in their knowledge of administrating Solaris OS.

During the examination time, the candidates can also choose the latest versions of SCSA Solaris 8, 9 as well as 10. For all these certifications, these two exam credentials are needed. In case if a candidate is already holding a SCSA certification then an upgrade examination is available for the certification upgrade level. In order to obtain the SCSA certification, there is no need of any pre-requisition certificate to the candidate but however, it is recommended to the candidates that they should have at least 6 to 12 months of work experience in the system administration field. For attending the second part of the examination, candidates need to have further more work experience. Though it is not recommend to the candidates, work experience will be easier for the candidates to take part in their examination.

The following are the SCSA certification examination and they are:

1) CX-310-200 or SCSA for Solaris 10 operating system (part 1)

2) CX-310-202 or SCSA for Solaris 10 operating system (part 2)

For upgrade level exam: CX-310-016 or SCSA for Solaris 10 operating system

SCSA 9 certification:

1) Cx-310-014 or SCSA for Solaris 9 (part 1)

2) CX-310-015 or SCSA for Solaris 9 (part 2)

For upgrade level exam: CX-310-016 or SCSA for Solaris 9 operating system

SCSA 8 certification:

1) CX-310-011 or SCSA for Solaris 8 (part 1)

2) CX-310-012 or SCSA for Solaris 8 (part 2)

For upgrade level exam: CX-310-013 or SCSA for Solaris 8 operating system

The examinations are 90 minutes in duration and approximately 60 questions in both parts. Candidates should score at least 61% in part 1 and 62% in part 2 for a pass mark in the examination.
