The very best weapons to use in individual protection are those that you would be able to carry around in obvious sight without arousing suspicion. In the event that your enemy has a stick and strikes down to your upper left you could do the following. Begin with your right hand beneath the hook on the shaft of the cane. As he attacks step right with your right foot and then grasp the cane using your left hand about two thirds of the way down from the hook. Utilize your umbrella or cane to deflect the hit. Step in using your left foot and grasp his stick with your left hand. Bring the hook from your cane down hard upon his fist in order to disarm him or her then strike him with the use of his stick.
